THE LORD BASSETT ARMS AS YOU MAY BE AWARE HAS BEEN DEMOLISHED AND HOUSES NOW STAND WHERE A MUCH LOVED PUB ONCE STOOD.
Nearly all gone The demolition continues

The Lord Bassett Arms

On Saturday October 22nd 2005 the Lord Bassett Arms was demolished to make way for housing. This marks the end of an era for the village and is yet another landmark building to fall victim to development.  The Heritage Group strongly opposed the demolition of one of the village's historic buildings (dating back to the eighteenth century) and the detrimental impact that it will have on the street scene with more new buildings encroaching into the old village center. Sapcote has lost so many of its old buildings that it is essential that we safeguard all those that are left.  The group also opposed the demolition of a community amenity, as this now leaves only the Red Lion and Sapcote Club for a growing village  with less amenities when clearly it needs more!

Residents have now moved into these houses and two more larger properties are being built at the rear, the old skittle ally has been turned into garages for the new occupants.
